Peristaltic Pump Pulsation Dampeners

Smooth Out Flow Rate & Reduce Hydraulic Shock

Peristaltic pump pulsation dampener

Peristaltic pump dampeners are designed to reduce vibration and water-hammer caused by hose compression. Although the rollers or shoes do not typically compress the hose 100 %, enough fluid is trapped between the pinch points to create a surge in flow. The magnitude of the pulsation depends primarily on the discharge restriction (reflected as discharge pressure).

A peristaltic pulsation dampener is a pressure vessel containing a flexible internal bladder. The bladder is normally pre-charged with compressed air or nitrogen; charge pressure can be adjusted and monitored. The only wetted component is the bladder, which is usually supplied in the same elastomer as the pump hose (natural rubber, EPDM, oil-rated nitrile or Hypalon).

Compatibility

These dampeners work with any brand of peristaltic hose pump. To select the correct model, cross-reference the hose inside diameter on our replacement peristaltic pump hose page with the beginning of the universal part number, then use the chart below — or simply contact us for assistance.

Pulsation Dampener Selection Chart

All process connections are 316 stainless steel.

Dampener Model Typical Vector Pump Models Connection Sizes
HP-20 2004, 4003, 4004, 4005 ¾" hose barb
HP-40 2005, 3005, 2006, 4006, 4009 1" or 1½" 150# RF ANSI flanged
HP-50 2007, 4014, 4011 2" or 2½" 150# RF ANSI flanged
HP-100 2008, 2009, 4013, 4015 3" or 4" 150# RF ANSI flanged
HP-125 2010, 4016 5" or 6" 150# RF ANSI flanged

Selecting the proper dampener size ensures effective reduction of pulsation, vibration and hydraulic shock while maintaining the seal-less integrity of the overall pumping system.
