PH80 Hydra-Cell Pro Pharmaceutical Pump

Seal-Less Pump — up to 65 GPM at pressures to 580 PSI

Wanner Hydra-Cell Pro PH80 pharmaceutical seal-less pump

The Wanner Hydra-Cell® Pro PH80 is the sanitary version of the D66 Hydra-Cell Pro pump. Its high flow rate and pressure capability make it the preferred choice for high-pressure clean-in-place (CIP) spray systems and high-velocity spray-drying applications that require a hygienic pump-head design.

The PH80 uses a pentaplex (five-chamber) design. As with all positive-displacement pumps there is a very slight residual pulsation, but it is undetectable without sensitive pressure transducers. The only components in contact with the process liquid are the pump head, check valves and elastomers. Combined with the complete absence of a dynamic seal, this minimalist construction delivers the extreme reliability that characterizes the Hydra-Cell Pro design.

Seal-Less Advantages

Elimination of a dynamic seal gives the Hydra-Cell Pro design capabilities that piston, plunger, gear and other positive-displacement pumps of similar flow and pressure ratings cannot match:

Ideal for High-Pressure CIP

The PH80 delivers a smooth flow rate at either low or high pressure through stationary, reactionary and motor-driven CIP spray nozzles. Three key performance attributes support validated CIP processes:

  1. Impact force on a surface is determined by the flow rate applied to the impact area. A smooth, non-pulsating delivery maintains spray-pattern integrity.
  2. Pump and nozzle performance must be repeatable for validated processes. The PH80 satisfies API 675 metering-pump standards for steady-state accuracy, repeatability and linearity.
  3. CIP liquids are often non-lubricating (e.g., solvents) and frequently recycle particulate-laden wash liquid during the main cleaning stage. The PH80 easily handles particles up to 800 microns.

Ideal for Spray Drying

Spray-drying applications that use stationary nozzles and high-pressure liquid to form the required spray pattern and droplet-size distribution typically involve pumping slurries or liquids with a high percentage of particulate — sometimes abrasive (limestone slurry, ceramic slip, TiO2 and other pigments). Dynamic seals in conventional pumps are quickly damaged by these particles. The PH80 is uniquely qualified to pump abrasive liquids for spray drying of biopharmaceutical, cosmetic and food products while retaining a fully sanitary design.
